PewDiePie’s Biggest Mistake?

By Teddy

Last week, YouTube sensation Felix Kjellburg (otherwise famously recognised as Pewdiepie) announced to the YouTube population that he would delete his current video channel once he has reached an incredible target of over 50 million subscribers.

However, he was talking about a different channel which he would take down permanently; Jack Septiceye2, an old second channel created a long time ago. He made this surprising announcement, last Friday evening by posting a video to his subscribers, as well as the rest of the world.

Felix claimed that YouTube is ‘killing his channel’ and that they were cheating him out of his video views, a common problem which other famous YouTubers’ have spoken about as well. He was irritated with the changes that YouTube were making to the suggested videos box, which were negatively impacting him and content creators. While many are glad that Felix’s channel remains, these claimed changes made by YouTube may impact less recognised channels. This means that posted videos will become less recognisable, similarly to Felix’s content; however, unlike Pewdiepie, these creators will face a bigger problem (due to their already large popularity soaring nowhere near as high as Felix’s).
