Written by students, for students.
DGSChapter is Dartford Grammar School’s official award-winning online magazine. Established in 2016, the magazine was founded by Ricky Taing and Joseph Bullock, and is currently led by Kodi Nwegbu.
Written and put together by students, DGSChapter creates high-quality, original content focused on Dartford’s student bubble. We are open to any reflections on any topic and we seek to be as inclusive as possible, with a particular focus on student news and what’s happening in the local area.
We are always looking for new journalists to join our team, writing and editing articles; and are open to contributions of opinion pieces, and interviews with local influencers, artists, musicians and more.
In September 2016, the Dartford Grammar School Journalism Society made the shift to digital journalism with DGSChapter replacing our previous paper-based publication, Focus.
Our ultimate goal is to be an integral part of student life at Dartford Grammar School, by continuing to provide excellent opportunities for students wanting to get into media, with many of our past contributors now attending leading universities to study Journalism.
In previous years, we have been involved with:
BBC Young Reporter Scheme (which included interviews with Liz-Hume Dawson, Anne Widdlecombe, and other notable figures)
Spirit of Try Angle Awards
Shine School Media Awards (overall prize in the category of ‘Best Online’, highly commended for ‘Best Homepage’, ‘Best Cartoon’, ‘Best Stand-Alone Piece’, and ‘Best Overall Content’)
