Hit US play, West Side Story, is coming to The Orchard Theatre. A classic show based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story is about a battle between an American Gang and Puerto Rican immigrants in 1957. An American called Tony and a Puerto Rican called Maria fall in love but have to keep it from their close ones.

The lead role, Tony, will be played by Mr M. Fromings who is also an economics teacher at DGS. We interviewed him earlier today about the show. We asked him, without spoiling the show, what’s your favourite scene that you will perform on the night? His reply was “The rumble, which is pretty much the fight scene but I don’t want to spoil the surprise and what happens.” We also asked him how he felt when he was given the role of Tony. He responded “I was over the moon. I’ve never worked with that kind of company before. I was happy but equally surprised.” Our final question was if Mr Fromings felt ready to perform. He said “I am ready and tomorrow night I have a full dress rehearsal where the cast will clean up some minor mistakes they are still making.”

If you cannot make those dates however, DGS are also performing the show on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of June for £5 as the yearly school production.
