Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 Official Teaser Trailer Analysis

Disney have finally released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Wreck It Ralph 2. After the success of the first film and the critical acclaim, a sequel was sure to come.

Wreck It Ralph, Zootropolis and other such films are great for a sequel as they have a setting and a plot that you could do anything with. This is the main reason why movies like Cinderella II and III failed because they have a more restrictive story-line. In Wreck it Ralph and Zootropolis you have large worlds that have barely been explored with an infinite amount of events that can happen, which is why they are so great for a sequel, they have a story that can be expanded on. However, enough chit-chat, let’s get on with the analysis.

The opening shot is what looks to be a rundown Litwaks’ arcade almost looking like it’s almost out of business, this may be a reference to the fact that as the home and mobile gaming market rises, the number of arcades is depleting. It then cuts to Mr Litwaks plugging in a PC from the late 90’s/early 2000’s to the main terminal, or hub area where all the arcade characters hang out. This PC has access to the internet, which Ralph and Vanellope venture out to, to find a part to fix her game, Sugar Rush. We are still unsure on what this missing part is or what happened to Sugar Rush however I’m guessing it has something to do when Turbo messed with the code in the first game and for some reason, it can’t be fixed without this missing part.

You then see Ralph and Vanellope whizz through what would probably be a LAN cable, and into the world of the internet. Right off the bat, you can tell that the creators of Zootropolis made this as one of the shots looking over the world, is very similar to the shots of Zootropolis used in that particular film.

In that same shot, there are a lot of details, most notable of which on the left there is a building with a caution symbol, behind it the building is captioned as “Website Under Construction.” You can also see a mountain just above it which is marked as National Geographic (a bit of visual humour.) Above the National Geographic logo, to me, it looks like a giant robot, but it’s probably just nothing. If you look closely at the middle you can see a strange Mario mushroom looking object, I have absolutely no idea what it’s meant to be. As you go to the right you see some Japanese stuff, a hologram of a cat and a cloud.

Next, they make fun of spam emails and click bait. And they make eBay as if it were in an actual auction room which I thought was quite funny. In the next segment with the exploding bunny, which is quite funny, is that the child playing the game looked a lot like baby Moana which I thought was a nice reference.

Overall, it looks like this movie has the potential to be a great sequel, and looks really fun. Guess we have to wait until November to really see.
