Dartford Festival Success
Over a week has passed since people came to Central Park for the annual Dartford Festival.
The festival was very popular, with a wide range of foods, beverages, games and excellent music to entertain everyone.
Music is slowly becoming a major part of Dartford Festival, with the headline act this year being 2016 X Factor winner Matt Terry.
Also on the main stage were Space, Peter Hook & The Light, The Christians and much more. The 2nd Stage was mainly filled with exciting acts from local schools, bands and dance troupes.
Select Dartford Grammar School students performed on the 2nd Stage as part of the Dartford Town Artsmark with Icon Theatre scheme where students formed bands and composed their own original music to local primary school students.
Members of Dartford Youth Council were working hard to promote healthy living as they prepared free fresh, vibrant smoothies. They had a smoothie bike which allowed visitors and sports enthusiasts blend their own refreshing smoothies.
Rosie Marlton, a Dartford Youth Council member representing Dartford Grammar School for Girls who helped out on Sunday commented “It was really fun working with all of the children (and some adults) to promote healthy living in the Dartford borough. Overall, it was a really good day and I’d like to help out next year!”
There was a lot of other stands available; ranging from charity to advertising stalls providing a selection of entertainment for everyone.
Everyone was enjoying the entertainment at Dartford Festival, including Dartford MP Gareth Johnson who was happy with the live music and wide range of activities.
He described some of his highlights of the Dartford Festival.
“The Dartford Festival is good that it is free, and it provides Dartford with a full range of entertainment. The main highlight for me is to see everyone in Dartford, together!”
The Mayor of Dartford, Cllr Rosanna Currans also attended the festival, as well as Cllr Jeremy Kite who is the Leader of the Council. They unveiled the new recycling lorry featuring designs from students of Dartford Grammar School for Girls, Bean Primary School as well as other local schools as part of the Dartford Town Artsmark scheme.
